The effects of Boston Marathon Bombings on April 15, 2013 were felt around world but ever so painfully for the small Boston suburb of Stoneham, Massachusetts. Six of our fellow Stoneham High School graduates were injured in the Marathon Bombings. Injuries include amputations, severe burns and shrapnel wounds. Most of the victims remain hospitalized and upon release, will undergo a long rehabilitation and recovery period as they adjust to life after this terrible and senseless attack.
As classmates and friends we are determined to help them through this recovery in any way that we can. We are determined to make the recovery a little bit easier in the days, months, and years to come. As a show of support we, together with volunteers from around the current Stoneham School System, are selling wristbands that read “Boston Strong” on one side and “Stoneham Strong” on the other in Boston Marathon colors. All proceeds from this effort will be given to the six victims to help pay for medical and rehabilitation expenses.

This fund has been established as a benefit account for our six fellow Stoneham High School Alumni injured in the Marathon Bombings. The fund has been established at Stoneham Bank in the Town of Stoneham, Massachusetts. Net proceeds will be split among the victims in accordance with their medical needs and the financial needs of the victims and their families. Your contribution will be used to defray the myriad costs associated with their traumatic experience including but not limited to medical care, rehabilitation, and miscellaneous expenses (e.g., expenses generally deductible according to IRS Publication 502.) The fund is administered by friends and fellow residents of the victims who have various backgrounds including a medical school student and financial services professionals. We are volunteering our time to minimize the cost to the fund and maximize the impact of your donation. At this time The Stoneham Strong Marathon Fund is not recognized as a 501c3 organization so we cannot be certain of the tax deductibility of your contribution.
